Record Number of Internships for Professional Year in Information Technology

Record Number of Internships for Professional Year in Information Technology

The William Light Institute now has a record number of students undertaking internship across Australia. We have worked hard to ensure that there is a wide variety of options available from small start ups to large corporations offering many different internship options including multi-media; networking; help desk; app and web design; programming and project work. Our Coordinator Mini Dharmasenan works hard with internship providers to ensure that students have a rich work life experience.  ‘The high number of companies happy to have additional students is, I think, a reflection of the relationships we have built up. It all benefits the students there is no doubt’ she said.

New enrolments for Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are available fortnightly (depending on the location)

New Nursing Accreditation

Congratulations go to nursing staff Debbie Bain and Wendy Hall for their great work in obtaining Australian College of Nursing accreditation for our Wound Management Resource Nurse Program. ‘Gaining professional recognition is a great achievement for this innovative course’ said Debbie. ‘Feedback from within the profession has been very positive and we continue to improve the program following feedback from students and employers.’

Globally Competitive Australian Education and Training

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) latest publication: ‘Education at a Glance 2016  (www.oecd.org/education ) is an authoritative source of information on the state of education around the world.

The 2016 report includes a comparative summary on Australia’s education and training system. Highlights included:

Graduation rates for post secondary non-tertiary programs are the highest amongst the 35 OECD countries
Australia has one of the highest shares of tertiary educated adults
High rate of expenditure on education and some of the highest pay rates for teachers
High tuition fees (but less than the USA)
High rates of graduate employment and very high rates for vocational graduates
One of the lowest pay gaps across graduate careers- an indicator of a socially inclusive country
